Getting ready for the semester
I have been busy this summer working with our adviser, a former Hornell 105.3 FM General Manager and one of their former engineers to get WALF in tip-top working and FCC-compliant shape.
We have made quite a bit of progress, too! Offices are on their way to being cleaner and more organized, WALF has a brand new website thanks to Left-Click and alumni Silas Albrecht and Dan Jones, plus we're getting a brand new automation system with as many bells and whistles as we could manage.
This is only the tip of the iceberg of course for what needs to be done, but I'm sure this year's WALF staff will be able to step up to the challenge of helping to make this organization an involved entity in the AU and Alfred communities, and help to make our programming as solid, current, and exciting as it can be.
More updates to come, but until then, check out the event calendar and give us suggestions for what WALF can do this year!

Former Engineer? More like top rated morning man :-)
Hey ManagerTom...WALF is poised to become a dominant force on campus and in the Alfred community again. I am so impressed with the new leadership and the station facility that I can barely contain myself!! I strongly encourage the folks coming back soon to participate in the WALF community; both in the studio creating art AND enjoying said art on the other end of the magical Marconi tunebox.
The opportunities go beyond traditional broadcasting. Develop, create, and distribute a Podcast that you can be proud of. Develop a character or two. Strengthen your vocal ability for use in voiceover work or acting. Work in promotions to bring in shows, artists, or events that you think will strengthen the AU community. MEET A DARNED ROCK STAR!!!! Then there's my other specialty, the geeky technical stuff. WALF can be a means to many a great ending for those that choose to actively participate.
Hey, I'm a jaded radio veteran that is excited about WALF's potential. Can't wait to see what the brightest and most creative collegiate minds in the world will do with the place. I just hope they don't break too much ;-)
